2016 Book Prize Winner a Finalist in WILLA Literary Awards

Earlier this month Women Writing the West (WWW) announced the 2018 WILLA Literary Award Winners and Finalists. Chosen by professional librarians, historians, and university affiliated educators, the winners represent the best published literature depicting women’s or girl’s stories set in the American West. WWW is the underwriter and annual presenter of this nationally recognized award.

The 2016 River Teeth book prize winner, Rough Crossing: An Alaskan Fisherwoman’s Memoir by Rosemary McGuire, was one of two finalists in the category of Creative Nonfiction.

McGuire's book was published by University of New Mexico Press in 2017. Both an adult coming-of-age tale and a candid look at the Alaskan fishing industry, this is the story of a woman in a man’s world. The memoir was selected for the River Teeth prize by final judge Andre Dubus III.

River Teeth is currently accepting submissions for this year's book prize through October 31. Final judge is Phillip Lopate. Read our complete guidelines here.
