Matt Tullis

Matt Tullis is an assistant English professor at Fairfield University. Prior to working at Fairfield, he was an associate professor of journalism and digital media at Ashland University. His areas of focus are narrative journalism (both the study of it and the reporting/writing of it), as well as convergent journalism and entrepreneurial journalism. Tullis has an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a BA in journalism/English from Ashland University. He worked as a daily newspaper reporter for 10 years, culminating in time at the Columbus Dispatch as an enterprise reporter and features writer.

Tullis is also the host and producer of Gangrey: The Podcast, a podcast focused on narrative journalism and the reporters who write it. He also works with the Archer City Story Center in Archer City, Texas, and has written for SB Nation Longform, Yahoo!’s The Post Game, Sports on Earth, and many other publications. He has twice been noted in Best American Sports Writing. His memoir, “The Ghosts I Live With,” will be published by The Sager Group in 2017.
